Why Do Minimum Poker Site Age Regulations Vary?

You are always going to be best advised to ensure that you read through all of the terms and conditions associated with and attached to any poker site that you have an interest in signing up to and playing at, and there can sadly be several pages of those terms and conditions that do need reading through.

However, one very important aspect of playing poker and gambling in general online or via a gambling type of app, is that each betting site is going to have a very strict policy regarding the minimum age of customers that they accept.

One thing that you are going to notice is that some poker sites may have a minimum legal age to gamble or 18 and some of them will enforce and have a minimum legal age to gambling policy on their sites of 21 years of age.

The simple reason why poker sites will often have a different minimum legal age to gamble policy in place on their sites is due solely to the country they are licensed and regulated in and the country of residence of customers they are targeting with their services.

Enforcing a Minimum Legal Age Policy

As the vast majority of both online and mobile poker sites are licensed and regulated, you will find those that do hold such a license are legally obliged to make some checks on the customers that sign up to and then play at their poker sites and on their poker apps.

To ensure that they always have only customers that are of the minimum age to gamble or over that age, customers signing up to any such site or app is going to have to send into the operators of those sites and apps copies off identification documents that prove their age, identity and location/address.

Other Poker Site Legal Requirements

Being licensed and regulated means that all poker site and poker app operators are legally bound to prove the sage location and identity of their customers as I have mentioned up above, however they are also tied to several other rules and regulations as laid down by the gambling commission or gaming authority that has issued them with a license to operate.

One thing that they are obliged to do is to prove that all of the poker games, poker tournaments along with any other types of games of chance that they may offer on their sites and apps are completely fair and random, and only when they have proven they are will those games and tournaments then be made available to their customers.

They also have to ensure that their customers have a range of gambling limit option settings that they can make use of, such as being able to set their own deposit limits and loss limits and often set the amount of time they wish to be logged into a poker site or poker app too.
